Research Into Sports Interviewee
Our sports story is about a local college Rugby team who won a competition amongst all other college rugby teams in the region. They won the final 19 - 12 in a gruelling test against their regional rivals. The prize for winning was a training session with an ex-England captain at Twickenham Rugby Stadium south just south of London.
The interview is with the team's coach Thomas Bridges who will answer a series of questions on their victory, training regime, future plans and the team's opinion towards their Twickenham training session.

Research on costume
Presenters
In our news programme we have chosen to dress our Presenters in smart clothing, like shirt and tie. We chose this because we obviously wanted the presenters to look smart but we didn't want them to look formal. Similar programmes like this morning use smartly dressed presenter rather that the like of formal John Snow or Trevor McDonald.
Reporters
We thought the reporters should have a similar appearance to the Presenters. The reporters are wearing trousers, and because they're outside and the wintery conditions they also have a coat on with a shirt underneath. Other reporters costume depends on the situation, for example, in wintery conditions the reporters clothing will change into winter clothes like coats and wooley hats and scarf. Other times the costume could be just in a shirt if its an indoor interview.

Research - News Studios
News studios differ in almost every news programme but certain fundamentals always remain. For instance in the more formal news programmes a large modern desk is positioned in the centre of the studio to give a sense of authority and professionalism. Whereas the less formal news programmes have a couch and sometimes a little desk or a coffee table. This approach gives a far more relaxed lay back feel to the programme whilst keeping a sense of professionalism and authority by still wearing formal attire such as suits, long skirts etc.
The number of presenters/anchors also differs due to the pace of the news been delivered. This is evident in sports news programmes where their can be up to five presenters covering different games. This setup is also good for debates etc on the sports being presented. More formal national or regional news programmes often contain 1-2 presenters who deliver the news at a slower pace with more detail and time for deliberation in big national stories. Often their is a male and female anchor presenting the news as this gives the programme a sense of balance and to appeal to both the male and female audience. Also regional news programmes often have presenters who speak with a regional dialect to appeal more to the regional audience as well as giving the show a more welcoming local feel.
The background of the studio also plays a vital role as it gives a sense of professionalism and authenticity, or the more friendly interesting approach often used by morning news programmes. The more formal news programmes have backgrounds that give a sense of authenticity and professionalism such as computer rooms with journalists working or global maps to express the global scale of news they are going to report. This technique is similarly used by morning breakfast news programmes but they tend to go for a more welcoming and interesting feel whilst also remaining professional such as large windows showing a working city.

Character Profile Research
Character profiles from other news channel websites seem to just give a brief background into the reporter's and presenter's career at that particular news channel with very little other information. A brief career overview is always given showing positions the reporter/presenter have held, promotions gain, famous stories covered and sometimes awards won. A common occurence in the profiles is also previous jobs as journalist and news articles they may also write for news papers. In some cases such as Channel 4 news, a blog is given to each reporter/presenter to further expand on their backgorund and history if they wish to do so.
Most news channels give profiles on their reporters/presenters, especially the local news programmes such as "Look North" and "Calendar". Channel 4 news also have profiles on their reporters in high positions such as cheif correspondant etc. In the cases were profiles are not given I've had to research unnoficial reporter profiles which seem to follow a similar pattern from the official Channel 4 profiles aswell as giving accurate information when compared to the official profiles.
Profile examples;
Channel 4 - Jon Snow
Channel 4 - Krishnan Guru-Murthy
Channel 4 - Faisal Islam
